The New York State Education Department's (NYSED) Performance Improvement and Management Services is seeking candidates for an Information Technology Specialist 2 position in the Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) in the ACCES District Office in Malone. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
o Respond to customer trouble calls for computer-related problems via phone, remote control, or visit to customer's desk in person; o Collaborate with other ITS staff to analyze and resolve problems; o Create work orders via the Footprints system and provide updated inventory data; o Perform add/change/delete work order requests for software, equipment, repair, new employees, transfers, and staff moves, including identifying and copying user data from old to new computer; o Deliver new equipment and collect old equipment to be reassigned or recycled; o Move computer equipment for staff and office relocations; o Perform the unpacking, configuration/setup, and delivery/deployment of new computer equipment, and coordinate with office staff receiving new computers; o Unpack various types of computer equipment and assemble/configure items for setup and delivery; o Install and configure software and other upgrades according to NYSED standards from NYSED servers and supplied images; o Troubleshoot PC, laptop, printer, and other hardware (scanner, external drive, etc.) problems; o Analyze office computer needs and make recommendations to NYSED managers on how to deploy or redeploy equipment in the most efficient manner; and o Evaluate new PC related hardware and software and maintain knowledge to be able to set it up and explain to users at a high level how to use it.

Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title allocated SG-16 or higher eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. This position is eligible for 55b/c designation and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility. Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications and a current 55b/c eligibility letter.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
